Adventures in Uganda, January 2011
Kelly is back from her trip to Uganda and not short on stories and photos either! Kelly and her gang of volunteers spent three days working on-site at the Building Tomorrow School–mixing cement, digging holes, leveling ground, making and moving bricks, and carrying water to the site.
They also spent time at the Friendship Village, a partnership village between Bead for Life and Habitat for Humanity. All the residents at Friendship Village make beads out of recycled paper, which are then used for necklaces and bracelets that we sell back at The Village Experience store in Broad Ripple. The group loved visiting this place! The women were happy to visit with us and show off their impressive work!
It wasn’t all hard work in Uganda! The group managed to salvage some time for adventure and fun, taking a boat ride on Lake Victoria and witnessing the incredible view of Bujagali Falls, and even had lunch right on the water.
