Join The Village Experience, The Bluevine Collective, Hoops 4 Haiti, and Provocate Haiti on this educational service trip to Port au Prince, Jacmel, Fondwa, and the Central Plateau. The group will learn about the devastation from the earthquake and recent efforts to help rebuild. They will explore community development projects and learn the importance of eco-tourism and fair trade. And of course, they will spend time volunteering with much deserving organizations located in Jacmel. Join us today and help spread the word about the beauty of this resilient island!
June 11 – Arrive to Port au Prince and transfer to local guesthouse. Welcome dinner in the evening. (D)
June 12 – Morning tour of Port au Prince including the Cathedral, Iron Market, and Croix des Bouquet Artisan Village. Afternoon visit to local community development organization. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B,L,D)
June 13 – Spend today visiting projects and meeting with representatives from Partners in Health. Travel to the Central Plateau to see their new hospital in action! Return to Port au Prince in the evening. (B,L,D)
June 14 – Depart in the morning for the village of Fondwa. This area was greatly affected by the earthquake and is continuing to rebuild. Visit the orphanage and school to interact with the children and learn about the mission of the Association of the Peasants of Fondwa. Depart for Jacmel in the late afternoon and check into hotel. Dinner at hotel. (B,L,D)
June 15 – Spend today volunteering with the Art Creation Foundation for Children. This organization is responsible for the welfare of over 100 former street children and provides them with 3 meals a day, an education, and healthcare. It is one of our favorite organizations and we’re sure you will enjoy this day! You won’t want to miss learning about their unique mosaic business and visit all of their works of art throughout Jacmel. Enjoy lunch at the center. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)
June 16 – Spend today at Faith and Love Orphanage and work on the construction of the new basketball court sponsored by Hoops 4 Haiti. The Bluevine Collective, and The Village Experience. Lunch on site. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)
June 17 – Journey to Bassin Bleu this morning and take in the natural beauty of Haiti by swimming in the natural springs. Support the surrounding villages by visiting Bassin Bleu and learning about the importance of eco-tourism. After a seafood lunch on the beach and a bit of relaxation time, return to Port au Prince and check into guesthouse. Special Farewell Dinner in the evening. (B,L,D)
June 18 – Transfer to the airport for international flight. (B)
