Shannon Watts is a 44-year-old mother of five children. Prior to founding Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Shannon was a stay-at-home mom in an Indianapolis suburb. She had a 15-year career as a communications executive for both public relations agencies and Fortune 500 corporations. Shannon was not an activist or involved in gun issues prior to the shootings at Sandy Hook on Dec. 14, 2012. Paul’s career has always been in the digital field. He started his own internet company, spent 8 years at Yahoo! and then went on to Facebook for 6 1/2 years from the early start-up through 2012. He left Facebook to spend time with his family. Paul began working with TVC in 2012 on his first family trip to Kenya. He and his 3 daughters had thought for a while about Family Philanthropy. The Village Experience put together the perfect trip. Paul and his girls raised money for a new classroom in Mbita and decided to make a commitment to include service on all of their trips. They decided TVE was the perfect platform for this. After Paul’s second trip with TVE Paul started a group called Dads ’n’ Daughters and asked 2 other Dads and their Daughter’s to join them. Paul finds the trips to be a great opportunity to bond and connect with his girls, and likes how the experience is enriched by service.

Yoga, service and travel are Jen’s passions. Jen owns and runs 3 yoga studios in Dallas, Texas and co-founded One Love Dallas. One Love started as an annual yoga event that blossomed into a community that has collectively raised over $260,000 for sustainable projects for impoverished communities in South Africa, Haiti and India. Traveling to visit the projects she funded opened up an entirely new world for Jen that she is honored to be able to share with others. Jen began teaching yoga in 2003. A dear friend had dragged her to a studio, a year prior, and she fell in love. Amazed by the way her life became easier after class, she realized the responsibility she held in creating her own world and how what she created from within directly impacted the worlds of those around her. Until that point, she was oblivious to the fact that the energy she put out was coming right back at her. She chose to create a shift and began to slow down and take the time and space to enjoy life more. The progression to share what had launched such a profound change in the way she lives was only natural. Jen hopes to inspire and empower people to practice yoga further and further on and off the mat, and also to take the true self connection and extend it to others in their communities and around the globe. Jen wants to learn about other cultures, listen to their needs and take action to move everyone forward into a unified, better tomorrow.
