Shop For a Cause Event!
Last night, TVE held its “Shop for a Cause” fundraiser from 5-8 PM – and what a successful event it turned out to be! Lots of shopping, chatting, and of course, GREAT food from our friends over at the Egyptian Cafe & Hookah Bar! Most importantly, we were able to raise enough money to land us somewhere near the halfway mark to our goal.
All this party planning was in effort to raise money for an orphans and widow’s project in Mbita, Kenya, that TVE currently supports. The money raised will go towards purchasing a brand new motorbike that village women can use for both transportation and income generation. With all our patron’s support and donations last night, we have just over half the cost already covered!
The after party, held at Connor’s Pub, imported Kenyan “Tusker” beer for everyone and we still have some left! Any takers? $1 of each beer sold will go toward our cause.
These motorbikes are essential to the village women of Mbita. Bikes can be used to transport orphans to medical clinics, as a taxi for income generation for the community, and for transporting crops to the market to sell. (Right now, women are traveling 8-10 miles on FOOT, with crops in hand, to the market!)
We thank everyone who came out to support this worthy cause, and if you’re still interested in making a donation to the project or purchasing the Tuskers, please shoot us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
