Itinerary

Nov. 11 – Arrive to Guatemala City International Airport. Meet Village Experience representative and transfer to your hotel in Antigua. Welcome dinner with the group in the evening at La Fonde de Calle Real. (D)

Nov. 12 – Morning yoga session. Begin walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Antigua after breakfast. Stroll down the cobblestone streets and visit the town square, local churches, ancient ruins, and enjoy a lunch of local Guatemalan cuisine. In the afternoon, the group will learn about the importance of the cocoa industry in the region and participate in a chocolate making class. Return to hotel. Free evening to try restaurants in the area. (B)

Nov. 13 – Morning yoga session. Volunteer day in Ceylan! Load into pickup trucks and venture into the jungle to meet the wonderful people of Ceylan. Participate in activities at the new kindergarten, visit the community recreation center, and deliver food to the elderly and malnourished in the community. Lunch will be in the village. Return to the hotel in the evening. (B,L)

Nov. 14 – Morning yoga session. Volunteer day in Zapote. Again we venture into the jungle, but this time we stop to work with our partners in Zapote. We will have an activity at the medical clinic and also distribute food to the malnourished in the community. Lunch in the village. Return to the hotel in the evening. (B,L)

Nov. 15 – Morning yoga session. Processing day at the hotel. Today your yoga leaders will guide you through meditation and journaling activities to help you better process the events of the past few days. The group will also brainstorm innovate ways to fundraise and contribute to the wonderful communities you just bonded with. Break for lunch. Time to schedule spa appointments in the afternoon. Free evening. (B)

Nov. 16 – Morning yoga session. This morning we will gather supplies for our friends at Open Windows Foundation. We will then head over to their after school program in the town of San Miguel Duenas to teach yoga to the kids and contribute a nutritional snack. In the evening, we will join the Director of Open Windows at her home for a home made Guatemalan dinner. Return to hotel. (B,D)

Nov. 17 – Morning yoga session. Free day for participants to shop fair trade, try the local cafes, further explore the city, or schedule an optional tour to surrounding areas. Farewell dinner at the beautiful Casa Santo Domingo Hotel in the evening. (B,D)

Nov. 18 – Morning yoga session. Transfers to the airport throughout the day. (B)

Vaccinations

Visit the Center for Disease Control website for up-to-date requirements (www.cdc.gov) and/or speak with a local travel doctor regarding vaccinations. We also advise that you speak with your doctor regarding a prescription for an antibiotic to combat food and water borne illnesses.
