Itinerary

Nov 18 – Arrive to the airport in Guatemala City and transfer to Antigua. Check into Hotel Soleil to rest and get acclimated to your new surroundings. Welcome dinner in the evening at La Fonde de Calle Real to try local food. (D)

Nov 19 – Morning walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Antigua. Stroll along the cobble stone streets and visit the town square, main Cathedral, numerous ruins, and quaint cafes and markets. Break for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a chocolate making class. Free evening. (B)

Nov 20/21 – Board pickup trucks in the morning and spend the day volunteering with Village Experience’s partner villages in Ceylan and Zapote. Visit the local schools, participate in a food distribution program for the elderly, and lend a hand to the current projects happening in the village. Lunch onsite. Return to Antigua in the afternoon. Free evenings to try the local restaurants. (B,L)

Nov 22 – Morning transfer to beautiful Lake Atitlan. This majestic lake is surrounded by three stunning volcanoes and numerous Mayan Villages. Check into Hotel Atitlan. Head over to the Nature Reserve in the afternoon for zip lining! (B)

Nov 23 – Embark on a boat tour of Lake Atitlan in the morning and visit three villages. Learn how to spin wool and visit women’s weaving cooperatives. Tonight we’ll celebrate Thanksgiving Guatemalan style! (B,D)

Nov 24 – Late morning transfer back to Antigua. Check into Hotel Soleil. Farewell dinner at Casa Santo Domingo in the evening. (B,D)

Nov 25 – Transfers to the airport throughout the day to catch flights back to the states. (B)

Vaccinations

Visit the Center for Disease Control website for up-to-date requirements (www.cdc.gov) and/or speak with a local travel doctor regarding vaccinations. We also advise that you speak with your doctor regarding a prescription for an antibiotic to combat food and water borne illnesses.
