March 11 – Arrive to the island archipelago of Lamu on the Swahili Coast of Kenya. Transfer via boat to private house in Shela Village. Welcome dinner in the evening. (D)
March 12 – Enjoy a walking tour of Shela Village and the UNESCO World Heritage City of Lamu in the morning. Afternoon to relax and enjoy the beach. Evening sunset cruise on Hippo Dhow…complete with Swahili snacks. (B)
March 13 – Volunteer day. We will organize a bottle collection in the morning from surrounding hotels. This is to both keep the beach clean and provide eco-friendly building materials to our partners at Twashukuru Nursery School. We will then deliver the bottles to the school via boat, meet the kids, and deliver much needed supplies. Return to Shela for lunch and relaxation time. (B)
March 14 – Beach day in Manda! This morning we’ll head over to Diamond Beach Resort to relax on the beach, swim in the ocean, and enjoy lunch. Upon return to Shela, the Lamu Yoga Festivities will officially begin. Register and enjoy – you’ve got the complete package! (B)
March 15 – Official activities of the Lamu Yoga Festival. Choose from over 60 offerings throughout the week! Special Swahili Dinner in the evening with festival participants. (B,D)
March 16 –Official activities of the Lamu Yoga Festival. Sunset Dhow meditation in the evening. (B)
March 17 – Official activities of the Lamu Yoga Festival. Full Moon walk to the Fort for the Farewell dinner and party. (B,D)
March 18 – Official end of trip. Transfer to the airport. Hopefully we’ll be seeing you in Uganda tomorrow! (B)
