Itinerary

February 23 – Arrive to Kolkata. Meet Village Experience Representative and transfer to hotel.

February 24 – Morning yoga session. After breakfast, we will visit the beautiful and bustling Flower Market. Walk through the market until you come to the sacred Ganges River. Next, we continue to the Kali Temple to learn about local culture and traditions surrounding the Goddess Kali. We will then head over to Park Street for lunch and end the afternoon shopping to our heart’s content in the New Market. Return to hotel for overnight. (B)

February 25 – Morning yoga session. Today we will visit Nijuloy House – this is a childcare home run by Women’s Interlink Foundation. The Village Experience and One Love Dallas has supported many projects here! We will meet the amazing young ladies living here, learn about their income-generating projects, partake in a wonderful lunch made by the cooking school, and shop their stunning fair trade items. Spending time at Nijuloy House is always a highlight of the trip. Return to hotel in the afternoon. (B,L)

February 26 – Morning yoga session. Today we will visit the Street Kids Drop-In Centers spread throughout the city and join the kids in their weekly yoga class. The Village Experience and One Love Dallas are currently raising funds to support these 15 drop-in centers in an attempt to curb the cycle of poverty and human-trafficking. We will then join Women’s Interlink Foundation Founder, Aloka Mitra, in the evening for drinks and conversation. Return to hotel for overnight. (B,L)

February 27 – Morning Yoga Session. After breakfast, we will depart for the rural artisan village of Bolpur. Women’s Interlink Foundation and The Village Experience have built a community-based hotel, artisan development center, and Hospitality Training Center in the village to increase employment and preserve traditional handicrafts. Check into hotel and embark on a walking tour of the village. Shop from the local artisans, be spoiled with amazing Bengali food, and learn about cultural song and dance. Lunch and dinner will be provided by the Hospitality Training Center. (B,L,D)

February 28 – Morning yoga session on the patio of the hotel. After a delicious breakfast, we will drive back to Kolkata and check into hotel. (B)

March 1 – Morning flight to Udaipur – known as the Venice of the East. Transfer to Jaiwana Haveli in the heart of town. Relax and enjoy dinner and drinks from the rooftop as the sun sets over Lake Pichola. Get ready to celebrate Holi: The Festival of Colors over the next two days! Festivities start this evening. (B)

March 2 – Morning rooftop yoga session. Free day to explore and partake in all of the colorful Holi Festival activities throughout the city. Enjoy – this will be a day to remember! (B)

March 3 – Morning rooftop yoga session. Enjoy a guided tour of Udaipur today with stops at City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Lake Pichola, and Monsoon Palace. Break for lunch. Return to hotel in the afternoon. (B)

March 4 – Official end of tour. Transfers to the airport today throughout the day. (B)

TAJ/DELHI EXTENSION:

Feb 20 – Arrive to New Delhi. Meet Village Experience representative and transfer to hotel.

Feb 21 – Morning tour of Delhi including the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town, Jama Masjid, Humayan’s Tomb, and Qutb Minar. After lunch, drive to Agra and check into hotel. (B)

Feb 22 – Sunrise tour of the Taj Mahal – one of the Seven Wonders of the World and one of the greatest love stories in history. Continue on to visit the majestic Agra Fort. Then stop for lunch and coffee at Sheroes’ Hangout – an incoming generation café run by survivors of acid attacks. Drive to Delhi in the afternoon and check into hotel near airport. (B)

Feb 23 – Transfer to airport and fly to Kolkata to meet group at hotel. (B)

Vaccinations

Visit the Center for Disease Control website for up-to-date requirements (www.cdc.gov) and/or speak with a local travel doctor regarding vaccinations.  We also advise that you speak with your doctor regarding a prescription for an antibiotic to combat food and water borne illnesses.

Additional Information

If you are planning on the Taj/Delhi extension,  please register and pay the $500 deposit for the main trip. Separately register and pay for the extension to hold your place on the extension trip.

2) Visa is required and must be obtained ahead of time.
