Main Trip Inclusions: All accommodations, airport transfers, meals as listed, walking tour of Antigua, coffee tour, coordination of all volunteer activities, TVE logistical guide, daily yoga/meditation sessions, water, tips, and all bank/wire processing fees.

Extension Inclusions: All accommodations, meals as listed, private guide and vehicle, private boat tour to three Mayan Villages, and all bank/wire processing fees.  NOTE: If adding on the Extension, the $500 deposit for the main trip and the $325 for the extension are due with Registration.

Itinerary

November 10 – Arrive to Guatemala City. Meet your Village Experience Representative and transfer to hotel in Antigua. Check in and relax for the rest of the day.

November 11 – Morning Yoga Session. After breakfast, embark on a walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Antigua to see Central Park, The Cathedral, Fifth Avenue, La Merced, stop for coffee at a local cafe, and learn about textiles at the market. Break for lunch. Welcome dinner and craft beer at Antigua Brewing Company in the evening. (B,D)

November 12 & 13 – Volunteer days with Vamos Adelante. Board pickup trucks in the morning and venture into the Guatemalan jungle to visit our partner villages of Ceylan, ChuChu, Osuna, Zapote, and Lucernas. Get your hands dirty working on construction and painting projects and participate in a food distribution program to the elderly in the community. Enjoy lunch in the village. Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Yoga/Meditation Session in the evening. (B,L)

November 14 – Morning Yoga/Meditation Session. Afternoon coffee tour on a local plantation. We’ll stop for a fun lunch experience afterwards. Free evening. (B)

November 15 – Morning volunteer day with our partners at Open Windows in San Miguel Duenas. Return to hotel for lunch and free time. (B)

November 16 – Morning Yoga Session. Free day for optional tours or simply exploring the city on your own. Farewell dinner in the evening. (B,D)

November 17 – Transfers to the airport provided throughout the day. (B)

POST TRIP EXTENSION TO LAKE ATITLAN:

November 17 – Morning departure for Lake Atitlan. Check into Hotel Dos Mundos upon arrival. Free afternoon and evening to explore Panajachel. Shop the markets, stroll by the lake, and enjoy the variety of restaurants. (B)

November 18 – Morning boat ride to discover three of the Mayan Villages dotted along the lake. Begin in San Juan la Laguna and meet women’s weaving cooperatives making amazing fair trade items. Head over to San Pedro la Laguna for a tour and lunch. End the tour going in search of the Mayan diety, Maximon, in Santiago de Atitlan. Return to Antigua in the evening and check into the Good Hotel. This socially responsible hotel gives back to schools around the community and has a beautiful bar and restaurant to enjoy your last evening. (B)

November 19 – Transfers to airport throughout the day (B)

Vaccinations

Visit the Center for Disease Control website for up-to-date requirements (www.cdc.gov) and/or speak with a local travel doctor regarding vaccinations. We also advise that you speak with your doctor regarding a prescription for an antibiotic to combat food and water borne illnesses.

Recommendations for Guatemala include:
Hepatitis A and B
Typhoid
