“Honeyteer” with The Village Experience

Planning a honeymoon? Do you want to get out of your comfort zone? Experience new cultures? See new sights all while benefitting others?

Consider “honeyteering.” A honeyteer is a honeymoon in which couples spend time volunteering, generally in a foreign country. According to a recent study by Voluntourism.org, “Four motivational themes appeared to take shape as to why individuals volunteer while on a leisure trip: cultural immersion, giving back, seeking camaraderie, and seeking education and bonding opportunities.” Volunteering abroad is a fantastic way for you and your partner to grow together, while sharing new experiences outside of your comfort zones. Honeyteering is a powerful bonding experience that allows couples to learn more about his or her partner with an opportunity to gain a more rounded sense of a place by seeing and experiencing things that they might otherwise miss.

The Village Experience will customize the perfect trip with volunteer experiences, adventure, rest and relaxation – all while contributing to the local economy. Some examples of these honeyteer trips include:

Thailand: Take the opportunity to grow as a couple while volunteering at an orphanage. Explore local markets. And enjoy time alone on the secluded beaches of Khao Lak.

Kenya: Experience the beauty of East Africa while on safari through the national parks. Walk along the beaches of Mombasa. Volunteer at an IDP camp and create lasting bonds within the local community.

Guatemala: Zip line through the jungle. Enjoy a candlelit dinner for two in beautiful, historic Antigua. Create a lasting impact on the lives of children while volunteering in the rural schools.

South Africa: Explore the winelands of Stellenbosch. Be lazy in Camp’s Bay. Learn more about the local culture while volunteering in the townships.
